This is a great hike with stunning views that is easily accessible from JR Hokuriku Shinkansen Karuizawa or Sakudaira Stations. Because the road goes up to 2,000 meters in Takamine Kogen, most of the climb is finished, although the difficult option still features a summit of Mt Mizunoto. On clear days, you will see Mt. Asama, the Northern Alps and mountains in the Joshinetsu National Park. After having a nice picnic in Yunomaru, return to Takamine Kogen where the view from Takamine Onsen’s outdoor bath is stunning and a great way to end the day.
