Nature Kids Forest House … Wild Safari Tour (90 minutes) … finish
98.9% Encounter Rate of Wild Animals!/ High chances of encountering wild animals!
One unique feature of our tour is the high probability of seeing wild animals in their natural habitat. The encounter rate in 2019 and 2020 were 98.9% and 97.8% respectively. Our guides in Picchio are knowledgeable and familiar with the ecology of many wildlife species here in Karuizawa. You will be able to discover many unique aspects of these animals through an expert’s perspective, which involves combining observations from the animals themselves, the natural environment and the ecosystem as a whole.
Spotting Wild Animals using the Light Census Technique
By using a night survey technique called “Light Census”, we can spot these wild animal’s glowing eyes in the dark by scanning the area with a spotlight directly from the car! We can usually find animals such as Sika deer, Japanese hares, and Japanese red foxes, and occasionally. you’d be able to spot the Japanese badger, Raccoon dogs and Wild boars too!
Hop out of the car to get a closer look at the Wild Animal
The car is equipped with observation lights on the front, left and right of the vehicle, allowing you to have a wider view of the area that we are passing through. Depending on the safety of the location and situation, we can get out of the car and have a closer look at the animals!
Image Stabilised Binoculars
Even if you had no prior experience with nature watching, this pair of binoculars would allow you to observe the animal so clearly - you might even be able to see them blink in the dark!
